General Basemap Fixes
Pete Zagorski
This previous feature request I made was marked as complete, but only a few things were actually fixed.
- Offline basemaps still don't display unless in airplane mode and even then I have to reset my cache to get them to properly display. Sometimes the downloaded basemaps won't display at all. This is a serious issue when in the field. When cell service is weak, the map loads what it can and displays over the downloaded areas, often resulting in poor image quality.
- The download window still doesn't show layers or records. Having these visible would provide some much needed reference for the area to be downloaded
- The "Paused- Waiting for Connection" feature is nice, when it works... I often get the message "Unexpected Error Occurred - We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again". Sometimes the downloads in progress just disappear with no message.
Now for new bugs/feature requests
- After selecting the area to download and then clicking the "Download" button. The screen greys and gets stuck and I have to manually go back.
- Please let us download Google imagery, it is so much better than esri imagery. Being able to display advanced geometry and labels over Google imagery would also be huge. I noticed you can do that for the Google Terrain basemap so please extend that to the Satellite and Hybrid layers.
- A zoom to location button in the download window would help with orientation.
- The download window currently resets to the same location each time. It would be helpful to default to the last area you downloaded to save having to relocate the area to be downloaded. This would be especially useful when you are not near the area to be downloaded and several downloads are needed to cover the survey area.
- Sometimes after selecting Download New and then the Basemap type, it glitches and does not take me to the download window.
- Downloaded basemaps don't appear when the basemap selected is "None". Probably related to the buggy displaying of offline basemaps.
- The notification that shows download progress is nice, but it would be even better if clicking it took you to the list of downloads.
Map view is essential to the workings of my organization and these fixes would go a long way towards making it usable when offline.

Agreed. I too have issues with downloading basemaps to my fulcrum app.
