Use Record Link to auto-populate photos

Can you please upgrade the Record Link field so that it can also auto-populate photos/media? I have a use case using barcodes to track assets that are recorded on a second app, and would like to call up photos from that app but there's currently no way to do this without copying across all records.

I would really like to be able to pull through photos / images from a linked record. Example: In an asset management system, I select a serial number of an asset from the dropdown list which is populated by another app (database of assets). I want to see the photos of the assets when i select the relevant asset from the dropdown list. Please help me out!!
